I have always wanted to make one of these. Now that I've finally gotten around to it, the rings provided a great little kinetic aspect to the piece.
Crafted of the Chinese 9-ring broadsword, the rings are believed to add weight and forward momentum but most likely served as an intimidation or distraction.
